About the Project
Feed the Future Haiti Appui à la Recherche et au Développement Agricole project (AREA) project enhances and improves existing country-driven approaches to address food insecurity and undernutrition by strengthening and supporting Haitian institutions.
The AREA project also known SARD (Support to Agricultural Research and Development) Program, is a USAID-funded Haitian-driven agricultural partnership of public and private institution designed to strenthen human and institutional capacity to help farmers and agribuisness gain access to better information, technologies and services.
UF/IFAS Global joined by the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and Louisiana State University for implementation for the five-year project (2015-2020).
Stephanie Docteur is a Food and Resource Economic Master's Student. Docteur joined the Feed the Future Haiti Appui à la Recherche et au Développement Agricole AREA project January 2017 as a MS Graduate Program scholar. As an AREA project MS graduate student, Stephanie will not only be completing her Masters degree, but will be conducting research in Haiti integrated into a priority area under an the AREA project programs in partnership with a lead researcher and UF faculty advisor.
