About the Project
Feed the Future Haiti Appui à la Recherche et au Développement Agricole project (AREA) project enhances and improves existing country-driven approaches to address food insecurity and undernutrition by strengthening and supporting Haitian institutions.
The AREA project also known SARD (Support to Agricultural Research and Development) Program, is a USAID-funded Haitian-driven agricultural partnership of public and private institutions designed to strengthen human and institutional capacity to help farmers and agribusiness gain access to better information, technologies and services.
UF/IFAS Global joined by the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and Louisiana State University for implementation for the five-year project (2015-2020).

Christelle Calixte is an Agriculture Education and Communications Masters student at the University of Florida. Calixte joined the Feed the Future Haiti Appui à la Recherche et au Développement Agricole AREA project January 2017 as a MS Graduate Program scholar. Specializing in Extension, Calixte will conduct research in Haiti once she has completed her masters degree and research under UF faculty Grady Roberts.
