UF/IFAS International
Distance Education
Awarding locally relevant graduate degrees through international distance education
International distance education is an emerging alternative to traditional graduate degree training. In the traditional model, professionals in emerging countries leave their jobs, their homes and, in many cases, their families to pursue advanced degrees in a developed country. UF/IFAS College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) is committed to domestic distance education programs that are relevant to nontraditional student needs. Building on these domestic programs, internationalizing distance education is the next priority.
UF/IFAS is focused on international distance education efforts on tropical food, agriculture and natural resources making UF/IFAS a natural partner with CGIAR centers, national research institutes and local universities in regions of the world that will benefit the most from professional capacity building. Students can obtain advanced degrees, working with internationally known research faculty, while they continue to be productive in their jobs while daily applying the techniques and information gained through their graduate programs.
UF/IFAS Commitment to Distance Education
- Three Master's Degrees for international distance education are currently available in two CALS departments, Soil and Water Science and Entomology and Nematology. For information on the departments, degrees and how to apply please contact the department coordinators.
