MacArthur Foundation, UF, and Nigerian Universities Team Up to Improve Higher Education

Mid-October saw the arrival of four high-level administrators from Nigeria’s top research university. Dr. Olufemi Bamiro, whose position as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan is equivalent
to an American university president, led a delegation whose trip to the U.S. was funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded the Society of Research Administrators International (SRA) a grant that will strengthen research linkages between two Nigerian universities and North American universities. The SRA grant’s purpose is to build the capacity needed to improve higher education in Africa’s most populous nation.
