Tragedy Sends Nkedi-Kizza to Uganda

Peter Nkedi-Kizza received the university’s official thanks from UF President Bernie Machen for representing UF at the funeral of UF student Oscar Ahumuza, after escorting Ahumuza’s remains home to Uganda.

Kampala UgandaAhumuza, an undergraduate student in the UF College of Engineering, died on August 25, 2007 after jumping off the dock at Lake Wauberg. Patricia Telles-Irvin, Vice President for Student Affairs, asked Nkedi-Kizza to read letters from Machen and herself at the funeral. Nkedi-Kizza brought a letter and funeral/burial service video from the family to Machen.
